Janis Neteler was born in Osnabrück and began to play guitar at the age of eight. Subsequent to his basic musical training, he studied with Prof. Ulrich Müller and Prof. Johannes Monno at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart, graduating with a Bachelor and then a Masters in 2019.

During this time, Neteler participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned guitarists, including Zoran Dukic, Hubert Käppel, Judicael Perroy and Margarita Escarpa. He is also a prizewinner, finalist and semi-finalist in a number of international guitar competitions. Neteler`s repertoire encompasses solo and chamber music works from various epochs. He performs regularly in duets or trios with flute, cello or voice. His orchestral repertoire includes works not only by Vivaldi (e.g. Concerto for Lute and string orchestra), but also 20th Century works such as M. M. Ponces Concierto del sur.
The focus of the recitals with the soprano Hannah Gries is art and folksongs. These are for the most part arranged by Neteler himself for this particular combination, thus offering a fresh new approach to the sound and colour of the music.
In 2019, the Duo Neteler / Gries performed, among other venues, at the Fringe Programme of the international Song Festival “Heidelberger Frühling”. They have also performed on the Netherlands Westfriesisch Islands.
Together with the flautist Vera Duckwitz, he played the first concert in 2018 of the concert series “Töne der Klassik” in Bad Boll. More concerts followed, among others at the International Guitar Festival in Stuttgart.

Janis Neteler has gathered a wealth of experience in working with all age groups. This includes coaching for young musicians to help them prepare for concerts, exams and entrance exams. He was able to widen his inspiration and impressions while participating in intensive courses and advanced training for instrumental teaching with the renowned guitar pedagogue Stefan Schmidt in 2019.
